My husband and I both see Dr. Chen, our daughter sees Dr. Okafor, and my mother-in-law's medication review finally makes sense because everyone talks to each other.

Can my whole family see the same doctor — or at least the same practice?
Yes. Consult is structured so that different physicians share one integrated chart system. Your husband's pre-diabetes notes, your teenager's dermatology referral, and your mother's medication list all live in the same record. When Dr. Chen prescribes something for you, Dr. Okafor can see it before your daughter's appointment. No faxing. No repeating yourself.

What does "participating in a research trial" actually mean for my family?
Most trials at Consult are observational — we track outcomes from care you're already receiving. Interventional trials (like our current Type 2 pre-diabetes protocol) are always opt-in, fully explained at a dedicated 45-minute consultation before you decide, and never affect your standard-of-care appointments. You can withdraw at any time without affecting your treatment.

Can children participate, and how do you handle pediatric research differently?
Children under 18 are included in our pediatric preventive care studies, which focus on eczema management, asthma triggers, and early metabolic markers. All pediatric participation requires written consent from both guardians when applicable. Our IRB protocols follow AAP guidelines. Dr. Okafor reviews every pediatric enrollment personally before it's approved.

Who sees our family's health information, and does it leave this building?
Your records stay within Consult's HIPAA-compliant system. Research data is de-identified before it reaches any external academic partner — your name, address, and identifiers are stripped before analysis. We never sell data. You can request a complete export of your family's record in PDF format at any time through the patient portal, same-day.
third-party data sales — ever. Our 2024 privacy audit by Deloitte Health confirmed zero patient data monetization.
Does my insurance cover visits here, and what happens if I'm uninsured?
We accept most major PPO and HMO plans including Aetna, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, Horizon BCBS, and Medicare. Research consultation visits are typically billed as standard office visits. Uninsured patients are offered a sliding-scale fee schedule reviewed quarterly. A billing coordinator is available every Thursday afternoon for in-person questions — no appointment needed.
